A TWO-YEAR memorandum of understanding has been signed between Fiji Airways and Tourism Fiji marking a strengthened partnership between two key organisations driving Fiji’s tourism industry.

The deal will open up new marketing strategies and initiatives that brings more passengers to Fiji Airways and more visitors into the country. The initiatives include cobranded marketing campaigns, trade engagement and public relations activity across key markets, including Australia, New Zealand, the United States, Asia and the Pacific.

At the signing in Nadi yesterday, Fiji Airways managing director and CEO Paul Scurrah said the national airline was proud to play a leading role in connecting Fiji to the world.

“This new agreement reflects our continued commitment to the nation and the sustainable growth of Fiji’s tourism industry. The success of previous joint marketing efforts shows the strength of this collaboration, and we are excited to build on that momentum,” Mr Scurrah said.

Tourism Fiji CEO Dr Paresh Pant echoed Mr Scurrah’s view saying Fiji Airways was an essential partner in showcasing Fiji to the world.

“Through this renewed MoU, we are exploring new joint initiatives and innovative approaches to complement the strong work already underway, helping us expand our reach in priority and emerging markets and drive more visitors to Fiji, delivering real benefits for the nation’s economy,” said Dr Pant.

He said Fiji Airways’ global partnerships were also helping Tourism Fiji expand the destination’s reach into new markets.

“With Fiji Airways’ oneworld alliance membership and expanded codeshare agreements, we can also reach new travellers and explore joint opportunities to market Fiji in emerging and niche markets such as the United Kingdom and India, further strengthening Fiji’s global accessibility.”

Meanwhile, Mr Scurrah said: “While we continue strengthening demand in our key source markets, particularly with the launch of our new Nadi to Gold Coast service in June, North America remains our most important long term growth opportunity.”

“Our network capacity in North America has grown significantly and we continue to explore opportunities to increase services in the region.

“Through our partnership with Tourism Fiji, we are investing in building awareness in the North American market, where Fiji is still relatively new for many travellers, showcasing why it is a must-visit destination and how easy it is to get here.”
