Fiji Airports warns public of social media scam selling “unclaimed baggage”

Fiji Airports has been hit with scam now circulating on social media.

The scam is advertising that Nadi International Airport holding its annual unclaimed baggage.

People are being asked to log onto a website to buy the luggage.

The post has been shared over 200 times and people have placed orders according to the comments section of the original social media post.

“We can confirm that no such sales are being held or authorized by Fiji Airports,” said Fiji Airports.

“These posts or messages are part of a scam, and we urge everyone to remain cautious and not to engage with or share them.”

“If you come across this post, report it under fraud or scam to Facebook. We also wish to advise that this will be reported to relevant authorities.”

Fiji Airports adds all unclaimed or lost baggage and items remains under the custody of the airline and is subject to the oversight of the Fiji Revenue and Customs Services.”

“Do not be misled by individuals or pages pretending to represent Fiji Airports.”
