The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and External Trade has activated an Emergency Operations Centre at its headquarters in Suva as it continues to closely monitor the evolving security situation in the Middle East.
The Ministry confirmed that there are currently no confirmed reports of Fijian nationals being directly affected by the recent incidents in the region.
The Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Jerusalem and the Embassy of the Republic of Fiji in Abu Dhabi remain in contact with local authorities and are maintaining communication channels with Fijian nationals living in the affected areas.
The Ministry said the activation of the Emergency Operations Centre will help coordinate joint monitoring efforts and facilitate a timely consular response should the situation escalate.
A contingency plan has also been put in place to ensure that appropriate consular support can be provided to Fijians should the security situation deteriorate.
The Government says it will continue to prioritise the safety and wellbeing of Fijian nationals in the region.
