THE Fiji 7s team received a rosy welcome at the Nadi International Airport on Tuesday after winning the Australian leg of the World Rugby Sevens Series in Sydney, Australia.

Fiji, after losing in Dubai, South Africa and New Zealand, mesmerised the rugby 7s world with an electrifying performance in the cup final against South Africa.

Fiji’s unbeaten run to avoid the disappointment of the NZ 7s a week earlier saw rugby fans, especially Fijians, packing the Parramatta Stadium until the final whistle.

The Fijian crowd painted the stadium blue with Fiji flags flying proudly and fans dressed in blue.

In Nadi on arrival with the Fijiana 7s team, and after a long while, there was a big turnout of rugby fans to welcome their heroes home and the Sydney 7s trophy.

Family members, friends and fans waited for hours to greet the victorious team home when they touched down at the airport.

The Gareth Baber-coached side will now prepare for the USA Sevens in Los Angeles on March 1.
