THE Boxing Commission of Fiji has warned boxers to keep the sport clean or face the consequences.

BCF chairman Adi Narayan made these comments after a well renowned boxer was stripped off a win at the latest boxing program last Saturday for testing positive in a drug test.

“We want to keep this sport clean. Every sport should be clean. Athletes must not revert to foreign objects to gain victory,” Narayan said.

He said he was thankful to the Medlab Fiji company for doing the tests for free.

“We are fortunate to have Medlab who are qualified to do drug tests. We got them engaged and they are doing it free of charge for the love of the sport.”

Narayan said random drug tests would be carried out in future boxing programs as well.

He said boxers needed to be clean to participate in the sport.

Those tested positive will lose the bout, if they had won it and further disciplinary action will be taken against them by the BCF.

Meanwhile, the Toe to Toe Boxing Promotion is next on BCF’s calendar which takes place next Saturday.

Renold Quinlan will take on Isikeli Senidoko in the main bout in a cruiserweight 8×3 minutes bout.
