THREE Ba schools are the recipients of footballing gear given by the sport’s world governing body FIFA.
AD Patel College, Ba Sanatan College and Kamil College received their gear yesterday.
The gear includes 20 pairs of boots, full set of uniform (jerseys, shorts, socks), training bibs, ball bag, shin guards, 20 balls and goalkeeper gloves.
Fiji Football Association women’s development officer Charlene Lockington said the gear was being sent by FIFA to assist women’s football since 2013.
“Last year, the same FIFA/Adidas gear was handed out to 12 women district teams,” she said.
“This is the first for the secondary schools. A total of 12 schools which have been consistent in the secondary schools competition will receive the gear.”
Lockington said AD Patel College won the girls under-16 secondary schools competition two years in a row.
“Three players from AD Patel College, Sonali Rao, Annette Nainima and Luisa Tamanitoakula are in the national team preparing for the upcoming Pacific Games,” she said.
“The girls U16 secondary schools competition in the West will kick off on July 24.”
