THE Fiji Institute of Chartered Accountants (FICA) highlighted the importance of open dialogue and collaboration between regulatory bodies and professionals in navigating reforms and technological advancements, following two forums with the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) focused on implications of the 2025-2026 National Budget.

The forums, hosted by FICA and based on the 2025-2026 Budget Policies and VAT Monitoring System, were held in Suva and Nadi.

“FICA remains committed to facilitating platforms that promote informed discussions, enhance professional understanding and support the successful implementation of national policies,” FICA said in a statement.

“FICA commends FRCS for its continued partnership and looks forward to future engagements that strengthen the accounting profession and contribute to Fiji’s economic development.”

The Suva forum centred around VAT adjustments and investments incentives aimed at stimulating economic growth and was led by director of Corporate Services and chief of staff at FRCS Shavindra Nath.

Manager VAT Compliance at FRCS Rohit Pillay, presented on VMS outlining its objectives and the role it will play in enhancing tax transparency and efficiency.

At the Nadi Forum, FRCS manager Policy Rahul Goundar presented on the 2025-2026 Budget policies and offered insights into fiscal priorities while Mr Pillay again provided a detailed presentation on VMS, its operation and compliance expectations.

Both forums featured a panel discussion in which the topics were further analysed.
