Fiji Football Association CEO Mohammed Yusuf has confirmed that the protest filed by Nadi against Navua following their Extra Premier League (EPL) 2-5 loss on Sunday at the Uprising Sports Complex, has been upheld.

Yusuf confirmed last night that the Fiji FA Board had accpeted the protest and the points have been awarded to Nadi.

Nadi’s protest was upheld after Navua fielded a suspended player in the match.

“The Fiji FA Board has awarded the protest to Nadi ,” said Yusuf.

“The protest was filed in by Nadi early on Monday morning and we acted accordingly.”

Yusuf confirmed that the Fiji FA Integrity Committee has been tasked to investigate how the suspended player was allowed to play.

The committee will begin its investigation today and present its findings at the Fiji FA Board meeting scheduled for Saturday.

“The board will go through the Integrity Committee’s report carefully before deciding on any further action to be taken against Navua or any other party involved,” Yusuf added. Nadi will be awarded three points from the match while Navua’s points will be deducted.

Meanwhile, Yusuf confirmed that a Premier Division team along with five Senior Division teams will face sanctions for failing to complete their regional club competitions.

These sanctions will be handed down after the FMF Inter-District Championship (IDC) in Ba next month.

He also confirmed that Bua and Northland Tailevu will not participate in this year’s IDC due to non-compliance with regional league regulations.

IDC pool draws will be conducted today in Suva.
