“DESPITE the rain, the energy and passion from the young players were outstanding. This is exactly what grassroots football is about—giving children the opportunity to enjoy the game, develop their skills, and build confidence in a supportive environment.”

These were the sentiments echoed by Fiji Football Association head of development (west) Dhiren Chand during the successful grassroots football festival held last Saturday at the Ba Academy grounds.

Despite persistent rain throughout the day, the event showcased the enthusiasm and resilience of young footballers who remained fully engaged in fun-filled skill-building drills, teamwork activities, and football-based games.

The festival highlighted the determination of these budding athletes, with smiles and excitement undeterred by the wet weather.

Ba Academy demonstrated its strong commitment to nurturing grassroots talent by providing a supportive platform for young players to grow both on and off the field.

Adding to the occasion, Ba Football Director Ravinesh Kumar and players from the Ba team were present to motivate and guide the youngsters, ensuring they received encouragement and support throughout the sessions.
