A newly-constructed fence is envisaged to provide peace of mind for the Vatukarasa Muslim community.
The $9500 project, delivered to the Vatukarasa Markaz committee in Nadroga this week, was enabled via the multi-ethnic grant program.
Multi-Ethnic Affairs Minister Charan Jeath Singh said the fencing was more than just a boundary, describing it as a symbol of respect, protection and dignity for Vatukarasa’s Muslim community.
He said the project would provide peace of mind while ensuring the markaz remained a place of prayer, learning and gathering without disturbance.
The ministry provided $7000 worth of fencing materials, while the Vatukarasa Markaz committee contributed about $2500 in labour.
Markaz president Nansan Ali commended the government for its support.
Mr Singh reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive development, ensuring all communities, regardless of faith or ethnicity, have the opportunity to thrive in peace and dignity.
