The Foundation for the Education of Needy Children (FENC) Fiji’s learning centre has finally been launched at the Tovata Methodist Church.

FENC Fiji’s head of operations Nirmala Nambiar said the centre, which opened on Tuesday, was a project FENC started some years back although it had to be put on hold after COVID.

“In partnership with the Tovata Methodist Church, we today are launching a new, more modern learning centre,” Ms Nambiar said.

She said the learning centre had a vision for a drug-free Fiji that community leaders, the government and civil society were collectively working to achieve.

“We are making this launch a timely one to help the children in the community with their preparations towards external exams and final exams.

“The centre will commence with children in Year 12 and 13 and then to the lower forms. We want the pass rate to improve in our schools and this is the start of the learning centre with many more to come.

“Due to the need to start the learning centre, we will commence in its current condition and the major overhaul will take place in November.

“Vinaka Vakalevu Methodist Church and talatala and the team for your never-ending support.”

The organisation said that based on its vision to look after the poor and vulnerable, FENC Fiji was taking on the responsibility of helping children boost their education and making them successful in communities.
