MARIST Brothers High School student Federico Miller has set his sights on the 2026 Commonwealth Games.
At just 17 years old the Savusavu native represented his Fiji in the 2025 Pacific Mini games in Palau, where he won Gold.
“It’s been a really good experience especially at a young age to compete against the best from other countries,” he said.
“I’m very grateful for the opportunities that I have given.”
Under the training guidance of former national triple jump champion Eugene Vollmer from the Marsit Athletics Club, Vollmer is hopeful Miller will compete in more international events in 2026.
“Last year Federico Miller won Gold at the Pacific Minin Games, and he will be eyeing a spot at the Commonwealth Games and also the Oceania Championships and Youth Olympics,” he said.
Making the Commonwealth will be no easy feat for the Coke Games gold medalist, as he needs to jump 15 metres to qualify for the tournament.
“My personal best is 14 metres, I will need to jump 15 metres to get to the Commonwealth, it won’t be easy I’ll have to really work hard, but with the support of the coach I know I have a chance of making it,” he explained.
