THE Fiji Commerce & Employers Federation (FCEF) was first established in 1960—an era defined by vision, courage, and a shared dream of progress.

In that pivotal moment, a small group of pioneering business leaders recognised a critical need – to create a unified voice for Fiji’s employers and industries.

Their determination gave birth to the Fiji Employers Consultative Association (FECA), a humble beginning that would evolve into one of the nation’s most influential private-sector institutions.

Over the past 65 years, that early vision has grown into the modern FCEF—a dynamic, respected organisation standing at the heart of Fiji’s private-sector.

From manufacturing and tourism to retail, services, agriculture, and emerging sectors, FCEF has been a steadfast partner to employers throughout the decades.

As Fiji navigated historic transitions—independence, economic reforms, technological advances, and global disruptions—FCEF remained unwavering in its mission – to become the voice of the private sector.

Over the years the Federation has played a vital role in shaping national policies, strengthening labour relations, and promoting workplace standards that foster fairness, productivity, and progress.

Its advocacy has helped create an enabling environment where businesses can grow, innovate, and compete in an ever-changing global economy.

Central to FCEF’s impact is its commitment to protect, promote, and preserve.

Through training, advisory services, policy dialogue, and capacity-building programs, the Federation equips employers with the knowledge, partnerships, training, and networking opportunities they need to thrive.

Its collaborative relationships with government agencies, development partners, and international organisations have positioned it as a bridge between business and community—a connector of ideas, interests, and shared goals.

Today, FCEF is more than a federation.

It is a collective of innovators, employers, and change-makers driving Fiji toward a stronger, more resilient future.

It also stands as the voice of businesses and employers, the pillar of productivity, and a champion of sustainable growth.

The Federation’s work continues to reflect its core values, leadership, unity, excellence, and a profound commitment to national development.

As FCEF celebrates its 65th anniversary—its Sapphire milestone—it honours the generations of leaders who built this enduring legacy.

Their courage laid the foundation, and their vision continues to guide the path ahead.

Looking forward, FCEF embraces a future where innovation meets sustainability, where businesses uplift communities, and where resilience and collaboration shape a Fiji that thrives.
