FCCC invites public to weigh in on electricity tariff structure, Jan 6–15

Listen to this article:

The Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) is calling on Fijians across the country to take part in upcoming public consultations on the electricity tariff rate structure, scheduled from January 6 to January 15.

The in-person sessions are part of a nationwide effort to gather views on Energy Fiji Limited’s (EFL) proposed tariff changes.

FCCC says participation is open to everyone — from household consumers and community groups to businesses, industries, government agencies, political parties, social organisations and youth representatives.

In addition to face-to-face meetings, members of the public can make submissions in writing or through FCCC’s online survey during the consultation period.

To help people make informed contributions, FCCC has published a non-confidential version of EFL’s tariff submission on its website, along with an Electricity Bill Comparison Calculator that allows consumers to see how proposed changes could affect their bills.

FCCC said venue confirmations for sessions listed as “TBC,” as well as any schedule updates, will be communicated through its official channels.

The Commission is urging Fijians to take advantage of the opportunity.
