he Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) has determined significant reductions in the retail prices of Rewa Butter, effective tomorrow, following a decline in global raw butter costs.
In a statement, FCCC said the price review was undertaken after an average decrease of 8 percent in the landing cost of bulk raw butter compared to its last assessment.
“FCCC has undertaken a review in the price of Rewa Butter following an average decrease in landing cost of bulk raw butter by 8 percent,” the Commission said.
As part of the review, FCCC analysed manufacturing and other associated production costs, resulting in reduced retail prices across all Rewa Butter pack sizes.
Under the revised prices, Rewa Butter 125g will decrease from $3.91 to $3.58, Rewa Butter 250g from $7.77 to $7.12, and Rewa Butter 500g from $15.58 to $14.28. The reductions reflect price decreases of just over eight percent for each product.
FCCC said the landed cost movement for raw bulk butter since 2021 has shown a fluctuating trend, influenced by global dairy market conditions.
“As of late 2025, global dairy markets are experiencing a sharp reversal after a prolonged period of tight supply and high prices,” the Commission said.
It explained that strong demand earlier in the year, particularly China’s 18 percent year-on-year increase in dairy imports through late 2024, combined with drought-reduced milk production in New Zealand, had pushed butter prices to multi-year highs.
