Motorists and households will face a slight pinch at the pump starting New Year’s Day, as the Fijian Competition and Consumer Commission (FCCC) announced price increase for all major fuel products effective from today.

The cost of motor spirit will rise by 4 cents to $2.61 per litre, while diesel increases by 8 cents to $2.35.

Kerosene users will see the largest percentage jump of 5.08 per cent, with prices climbing to $1.86.

These increases are attributed to unfavourable movements in international refined fuel prices and freight rates during November 2025, alongside a weakening US dollar.

In a bit of holiday relief, however, LPG prices are set to fall.

A 4.5kg cylinder will drop to $13.33, and the 12kg cylinder will decrease by 78 cents to $35.55.

This downward trend is driven by a 3.16 per cent reduction in the Butane Contract Price, despite higher international freight costs.

The FCCC confirmed its enforcement teams will conduct nationwide inspections to ensure retailers comply with these maximum price caps.

Consumers are urged to report any instances of overcharging or hoarding immediately.
