Day two of the 50th Fiji Bitter Marist Sevens at HFC Bank Stadium delivered solid performances across the board, with no major upsets to shake up the men’s competition.
The pool matches were fiercely contested but largely went according to form as some of the tournament favourites made strong early statements.
Vuna Brothers edged out Island Brothers 10–7 in a tight tussle, while Bula Brothers made their mark with a commanding 15–0 win over McDonald’s Westfield Babas.
Loloma Heights were equally dominant, dismantling Gau Kacau 26–0, and Kasabias Village Boys proved too powerful for Newborn Waitabu, running out 31–0 victors.
Wardens Gold maintained their perfect defensive record, keeping Pegasus Brothers scoreless in a 17–0 triumph. Police White produced one of the more thrilling fixtures of the day, coming from behind to narrowly beat Fresh’et Navy 10–7 in a keenly fought battle.
Kaite Rugby secured a confident 19–7 victory over Bula Ballers Tamaya, while Yaro Chiefs edged out Wai Tui Tribal 12–10 in a nail-biter that kept fans on the edge of their seats.
Wailevu Rugby also closed out the pool stages with a solid 15–5 win over Golden Eagle ANCF Waidina.
With the pool matches completed, organisers have rescheduled the men’s elimination rounds and quarter-finals to take place tomorrow, promising an action-packed day as the competition intensifies.
As the 50th edition of the Marist Sevens moves forward, teams will be looking to maintain their form and avoid any slip-ups as the battle for glory heats up.
