THE FATHER of the 14-year-old student who lost his life in an accident is devastated and wants justice for his son.
Speaking to this newspaper, 44-year-old, father of four Nazim Ali of Caubati, Suva said he was away at work when he received the tragic news of his son’s accident.
“I left on Thursday night to go to Lautoka, I am a minibus driver,” Mr Ali said.
“Friday morning, I was on my way from Lautoka to Suva, when I got a call from the police that my son was involved in an accident.”
He said he was just passing Navua and rushed to the Colonial War Memorial Hospital (CWMH) to see his son.
Upon arrival he was met with this wife and was told his son was being operated on.
According to Mr Ali, his son tragically died from severe blood loss following the accident.
“Last time I spoke to him was on Thursday night, when he asked “when will you come back?
“I told him, I’ll just drop one job and come back.”
Mr Ali said his son, who attended Suva Muslim Primary School, didn’t show up in school on Friday and had no idea how he ended up in Nabua.
Every Sunday, he said his son goes with him to cut grass at the old Nasinu Cemetery, memories he would truly cherish.
While police reports showed the suspect was sober and lost control of his vehicle, Mr Ali believes otherwise.
“The police said that the falla (suspect) was not drunk but I think he was.
“A lot of people are calling out for me to settle out of court, but I’m after justice for my son.”
