Fatani wants Tonga to play a tight and physical game

THE Tonga A rugby team will be very clinical and physical against the Fiji Warriors on Friday at the ANZ Stadium, Suva, when they meet in the World Rugby Pacific Rugby Challenge 2017.

Tonga A head coach Isi Fatani said the Telecom Fiji Warriors would be a hard team to beat especially when playing them on their home ground.

Fatani, who was a former Suva team captain in 1997 and 1998, would be quite familiar with the Fijian style of play.

“We are well prepared for the game coming up on Friday and we know that Fiji is the best team in this tournament,” Fatani said.

He is aware of Fiji’s open style of rugby and had been analysing some of Fiji Warrior’s previous games and working on ways to keep the Fijians contained.

“We are going to go physical and keep the game tight against the Fijians because we know it’s always tough to play against Fiji on their home ground. I think they are more confident than us because they are playing at home, we are going to try our best,” he said

Fatani said they had a combination of young and experienced players who played in last year’s competition.
