A 30-year-old Navua resident died instantly yesterday after he was hit by a minibus driven by a 29-year-old man travelling from Nadi to Suva.

According to witness Saleshni Lata, Patrick Peter was returning home after buying bread from her shop along the Queens highway.

“He bought the bread and just walked along the road when that minivan just hit him,” she said.

Police confirmed Mr Peter was a pedestrian when he was hit by the minivan carrying passengers.

“The driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and bumped the 30-year-old victim who was walking on the roadside,” police said.
