Legendary composer and the founder of the foot-stomping iTaukei hit band ‘Waikoula kei Tavua’ Waisale Vuniwaqa has died.

On social media, tributes flowed from fans and followers around the globe on the passing of the Tavualevu villager.

Vuniwaqa, who was to turn 70 this year, died after battling an illness for some time.

Local artists Georgina Ledua, Aggie Vakaloloma, and many others had taken to social media to pay their tribute to a gentleman known to many as “a great songwriter who penned many iTaukei classics like no other”.

He will be laid to rest on Saturday.
