THE FIJI Water Flying Fijians fan base in Tonga has been a buzz of excitement as they prepare to cheer on their team this Friday.
Speaking to this newspaper, rugby enthusiast Eceli Gasagasa is anticipating a thrilling match between the two countries she calls home.
Originally from Lomanikoro, Rewa, the 36-year-old has been residing in Tonga for the last nine years.
She says she will not miss the game and opportunity to cheer on the Flying Fijians.
“When I heard the Fiji team was going to be playing here in Nuku’alofa, I was really excited,” the 37-year-old said.
“I will be knocking off early on Friday, at 3pm so I can make my way to the stadium early.”
Another Fijian-born resident in Tonga, Mareta Vueti says she and others in the Fijian community were looking forward to hosting the team this week.
She says many Fijians have gone and printed their shirt, eager to meet the Fiji players this Friday.
“This does not happen often, so we are excited to host our boys,” she said.
“We are preparing with our Fiji t-shirts and tekiteki, ready to cheer on our Flying Fijian,” she said.
The match between Tonga and Fiji will take place at the Teufaiva Stadium in Nuku’alofa, Tonga.
The game kicks off at 3pm.
The Fiji team will be arriving in Tonga tonight.
