THE family of Annyalam Pillay, 70, are seeking justice for what happened to their father who died in a road accident on the Nadi Back Rd on Tuesday.
Subramani Pillay said his father, who was a priest, was taking flowers to a nearby temple when he was hit.
“The driver should be charged,” he said.
Mr Pillay, who lives in Sigatoka, said his father was looking after his brother, Navenithan who lives with a disability.
The two brothers and their father were on social welfare support as their mother had passed away also.
Police said the victim was believed to have suddenly crossed the road when he was hit by a vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man.
“The victim was conveyed to the Nadi Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival,” police said in a statement.
“The driver will be brought in for questioning as investigations continue.”
The national road death toll stands at 35 compared with 32 for the same period last year.
