When Hussain Ahmed heard news his house was on fire, he only prayed for the wellbeing of his wife and four-year-old son.

Mr Ahmed, a taxidriver, said he was in the Capital City when he heard about the tragic incident.

“I stopped and prayed for my wife and son because I cannot afford losing any of them,” he said.

“I thank God for protecting them and upon checking with them, I was so glad that they were safe.”

Mr Ahmed said they couldn’t save anything from their three-bedroom house in Nausori.

He said his wife was bathing their son outside their home when the fire began. According to Mr Ahmed, the fire was alleged to have started in one of the bedrooms.

“My wife heard the sound of an explosion from inside the house and she ran in to see what it was. When she entered the house, the room was already up in flames.

She quickly turned around and ran out of the house.”

Meanwhile, police spokeswoman Ana Naisoro confirmed the house was destroyed and no one was hurt.
