Family loses all in fire

A family in Korotale, Rakiraki, is homeless after losing their house in a fire on Thursday afternoon.

The house was vacant at the time and belonged to Danish Raju.

National Fire Authority CEO Puamau Sowane said the estimated damage was $60,000.

“We have noticed the increasing number of structural fires in the western division particularly for vacant homes,” he said.

“This is a very bad reflection of people not caring adhere to fire safety simple principles.”

“We continue to remind the public to be very careful when leaving their homes.
