The family of Shabreen Shain Ali — the 28-year-old woman, who was found dead in Raiwaqa, Suva this week — is demanding justice for the eldest daughter.

Her mother, Anjila Wati Prasad, yesterday claimed details of her daughter’s death released by police were not consistent with the information relayed to her earlier by authorities.

Joining Ali’s grieving mother was her second youngest sister, Shireen Shristi Shankar, who said she froze in shock upon hearing the devastating news.

She said Ali’s body was only recognisable by a tattoo with her partner’s name on her arm.

“My brother-in-law said he was not able to recognise her face because there were many bruises on it,” she said.

“I believe justice will be given to her and the suspect will be caught.”

Police said an investigation was ongoing and they could not speculate on the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Police allege the young mother-of-two was seriously injured by her partner with a sharp object.

Ms Prasad told this newspaper her daughter visited a few months ago but they did not get the chance to meet.

“She came home on April 26, but I didn’t meet her.

“On (last) Saturday she was at her partner’s place and on Sunday, she returned to the property in Raiwaqa (which she said belonged to a close friend of the deceased).”
