The Ministry of Women, Children and Social Protection says a joint team with the Fiji Police Force has been carrying out random sweeps in hotspot areas across major urban centres to address the growing number of beggars and children seen selling or staying on the streets during the festive season.
The operations, which began two weeks ago, will continue through the holidays.
According to the Ministry, families found begging with children have been provided food rations and safely returned to their homes.
A senior citizen found living on the streets was also offered care and accommodation at the Golden Age Home.
The Ministry reminded parents and guardians that it is their responsibility to ensure children are safe and supervised, particularly during the school break.
Children found loitering in public places without supervision will be taken to a safe location, while parents or guardians will be counselled on their duty of care.
Government, the statement said, remains committed to protecting children, supporting vulnerable people, and keeping communities safe throughout the festive period.
The Ministry is urging members of the public to work together to protect children, the elderly, women and girls, and to continue showing care and responsibility for one another.
