Fake killing report lands Sigatoka pair in court

Two men have been charged with giving false information to Police.

They had fabricated report of a violent crime in Kulukulu, Sigatoka.

Police said on July 18, an 18-year-old waitress from Kulukulu reported to police that a 26-year-old self-employed man from the same settlement had been killed by three men.

The report also claimed the assailants attempted to kill the 18-year-old.

Police responded promptly, only to find the 26-year-old alive but with visible injuries on his back and neck.

He was immediately taken to Sigatoka Hospital for medical examination.

Police questioned the 18-year-old, leading to his admission that the report was false and that he and the 26-year-old had conspired to mislead Police.

Both will appear at the Sigatoka Magistrate Court today.
