THE Fiji Australia Business Council (FABC) has elected its new executive committee members at its annual general meeting on Tuesday.
Himen Chandra was voted president of the council, succeeding Vera Chute, while Fiji Times Pte Ltd general manager Christine Lyons and former FDB chief executive Saud Minam were voted vice presidents.
Bruce Sutton was elected treasurer.
Other committee members are immediate past president Vera Chute, Mark Halabe, Lisa Apted, Glenis Yee, Rabih Yazbek, Shane Smith, Ajay Raniga and Tim Joyce.
The newly-elected president acknowledged the past presidency for taking the council through critical and unprecedented times of massive transitions and change.
“With two very strong vice presidents at my side together with the rest of the executive committee and the support of our members, I am confident that we can lead the council forward and continue the momentum that we are on,” Mr Chandra said.
“We will continue the significant role of providing a key platform for people, opportunities and growth, and we can build on FABC’s past achievements and harness our combined skills as we work with Fiji and Australia for our mutually shared goals.”
The FABC also reported record membership this year with 155 members ready to continue its legacy of championing the voice of business, enabling key investments and strengthening bilateral partnerships between Fiji and Australia.
