THE Labasa team is determined to strengthen their defense as they prepare to face off against the defending champions, Suva, in the Extra Futsal Inter-District Championship (IDC) 2025 today, at the Vodafone Arena in Suva.

In their match yesterday, Labasa secured a hard-fought 6-4 victory over Nasinu. Both teams put up a strong performance in the first half, but Labasa ultimately emerged as the winners.

Coach Imtiaz Begg expressed his satisfaction with the team’s performance, praising the players for giving their all on the court.

“It was a great game, the boys gave their 100 per cent to get this win,” said Begg.

“Most of our players this is their first time playing futsal, so getting this positive result is a good achievement for the boys.”

As they prepare to face Suva, the defending champions, Begg emphasised the need for focus and readiness.

He acknowledged that it will be a tough challenge for his team but believes that they can rise to the occasion.

“In our final pool match we will be taking on the defending champions Suva, we know it will be a big challenge for the boys, we need to stay focused and ready for the match.

Begg extended his gratitude to the players for their teamwork and dedication, highlighting the passion and heart they have shown on the field.

“I like to thank the boys for their teamwork, as you can see, we have small players playing, so grateful for their heart and passion for the sport.”

He also thanked the team’s sponsors and families for their support, which has been crucial in keeping the team motivated.

Labasa will take on Suva at 3.30pm.
