Fiji Football Association chief executive Mohammed Yusuf believes the 2025 Extra Battle of the Giants semi-finalists are a testament to the hard work and dedication shown throughout the Extra Premier League season.
Yusuf highlighted the direct correlation between consistent performance in the EPL and success in bigger tournaments
“It clearly shows the hard work done during the Extra Premier League. The four teams in the semi-finals are the top four in the EPL so it shows that if you do your hard work during the national league, it pays off during tournaments,” he said.
Yusuf also pointed out the importance of giving younger players more game time during the national league.
“The players are consistent; they get exposed when they play a number of matches.”
The CEO also praised the influx of young talent and district teams for prioritising youth development.
“We had a lot of young players playing, Lautoka, Nadroga and even Ba, they had a very young team, so it is a very good experience.”
Yusuf emphasised the need for administrators to provide ample opportunities for youngsters to gain experience.
The BOG semi-finals and final are set for this Saturday and Sunday at Subrail Park in Labasa.
Labasa will face Navua in the first semi-final at 2pm while Rewa will battle defending champion, Lautoka in the second semi-final at 4pm.
