Exports from Fiji to New Zealand are at a record high, having broken the $NZ500 million ($F687.13m) mark for the first time.

Fiji-New Zealand Business Council (FNZBC) president Renu Chand said exports (goods and services) to New Zealand for the year to September 2023 stood at $NZ502m (over $F690m).

Speaking at the FNZBC Christmas cocktail party held on Wednesday evening, Ms Chand said 2023 had brought a significant boost to the trade relationship between the two nations.

“July 2023 was the highest month for Kiwi visitors since borders reopened,” Ms Chand said.

“For one month alone in July, 25,980, just shy of 26,000 kiwis visited Fiji in a single month.”

She said Fiji was now a massive export market for New Zealand, further strengthening bilateral relations.

“This should give us good cause for reflection on the importance of our trade relationship,” she said.
