TWO experts from Australia will be in Fiji next month to conduct a table tennis umpires course and a regional para training camp.
Fiji Table Tennis Association president Anthony Ho said the regional para training camp would focus mainly on regional players with disabilities.
“The training camp will be conducted by top Australian coach Alois Rosario while the umpires course which provides another opportunity for people with disabilities will be conducted by another Australian expert,” he said.
Ho said the training camp and umpires course would enable participants to put into practice what they learnt at the upcoming Fiji Open and Fiji Para Open.
“The Fiji Open and Fiji Para Open have already attracted some of the Pacific’s leading players who will use this event as part of their 2016 Olympic qualification preparations,” he said.
“The 2016 Fiji Open is also a qualification event for the 2017 International Table Tennis Federation Oceania Cup which is the qualification event for the 2017 World Cup.
Australian and New Zealand players are also expected to attend.”
Ho said the 2016 Fiji Open and Fiji Para Open would be played from January 25-30 at the Fiji Sports Council National Table Tennis Centre in Laucala Bay.
