A BLOCKBUSTER opening awaits football fans as Tailevu Naitasiri FC host defending champions Rewa FC in round one of the Extra Premier League 2026 season this weekend.
The highly anticipated clash kicks off at 3pm at Ratu Cakobau Park in Nausori, promising an electric start to the new campaign as two fierce rivals collide in what is expected to be a thrilling encounter.
According to Fiji Football statement the side returns to the top flight with renewed confidence after strengthening their squad with several experienced campaigners.
Leading the new arrivals is former Labasa and Ba striker Ratu Apenisa Anare, alongside former national and Rewa midfielder Iosefo Verevou. Also joining the side are former Suva utility Ravinesh Karan Singh, experienced defender Joeli Ranitu, and striker Misaele Draunibaka. Adding further depth are Labasa brothers Salimone Draunibaka and Tukai Ravonokula.
Head coach Shabneel Prasad has been working tirelessly to shape a competitive outfit after successfully guiding Tailevu Naitasiri back into the country’s premier competition.
With a blend of experience and fresh talent, the hosts are determined to make a strong statement in their return season.
Meanwhile, the Delta Tigers arrive with momentum on their side after lifting the Pillay Garments Champion vs Champion title against Labasa earlier this year.
The champions will be eager to carry that winning form into the league as they begin their title defence.
Despite losing 12 key players from last season to the OFC Pro League, Rewa remain confident of maintaining their dominance, banking on their depth and championship experience to deliver another strong campaign.
Fans can also look forward to the official opening ceremony of the 2026 season, scheduled for 2.25pm, setting the stage for what promises to be an exciting year of top-tier football.
