THE 2024 Salad Bowl Junee Netball Festival is set to take place on September 28 at Lawaqa Park, promising an exciting day of netball action.

This one-day event, organised by the Junee Netball Club from Australia, will feature a mix of seasoned and up-and-coming netball talent from the Western Division.

Salad Bowl Netball president Judy Kumar has confirmed that the festival will exclusively feature Western teams. This decision aligns with the tournament’s focus on development, allowing teams to use the competition as preparation for the upcoming Western Rally.

However, invitations have also been extended to teams from Namosi and Serua, ensuring a broader representation within the development-focused event.

“The focus of this tournament is development we will not allow any national players to come and play as we are targeting grassroots.

“The West clubs will also use this tournament as preparation for the Western Rally in December,” Kumar said.

The tournament will be run by the Junee Netball Club, which will be responsible for drawing up the fixtures and managing the day’s events.

The competition will feature three main categories which include the open grade with 16 teams, the U15 grade with 12 teams, and the men’s grade with eight teams.

Participating teams include Salad Bowl netball, Ba, Tavua, Coastal Magic, and Rising Stars in the open grade and U15 grade. In the men’s grade, the teams are Salad Bowl 1, Ba, Nadi, Tavua, Namosi, Baravi, and Salad Bowl 2.

The sponsors for the event include Salad Bowl Travel Tours, Naviti Resort, and Down to One, with more sponsors expected to be announced by September 15.
