The excitement is palpable as the Tuckers Ice-Cream Fiji Primary Schools Athletics Championship approaches, with Fiji Primary Schools Athletics president Patrick Bower notes the hype surrounding the event is at an all-time high.

With a record number of 21 districts confirmed to participate in this year’s competition, the anticipation among students and parents is tremendous.

Bower is thrilled by the enthusiasm of the students, who are eagerly looking forward to showcasing their athletic talents on the track.

“The hype we are having right now, is really amazing students just can’t wait for the games to begin,” said Bower.

“Even students from Vanualevu Schools have expressed interest in hosting the competition, although the lack of proper facilities and without tracks.

“Thats shows the buzz surrounding the event is undeniable, with everyone eagerly awaiting the start of the games.

“The increased number of participating schools is a testament to the efforts made to reach out to districts and provide them with the necessary support.

Bower emphasises the importance of training officials and ensuring that all preparations are in place before the competition kicks off.

“I think quite a lot of schools participating, what we have tried to do is to reach out to the districts so that we can monitor their officials, not only monitor but to train them.

“So that gives them the opportunity to look forward and how to prepare athletes for the games, when called out.

“It’s a huge event as I said, that’s why we are strict on the rules, i must say all the leaders are really corpora ting well, all entries also are working fine, and by Tuesday (next week) everything is set and ready to go.

“The support of sponsors, such as Tuckers, has been instrumental in helping to make the event a success, providing the needed resources and backing for the competition to thrive.”

With the countdown to the competition underway, Bower and his team are working diligently to ensure that everything is in place for a successful championship.

The two-day event will take place at the HFC Bank Stadium in Suva next Thursday and Friday.
