Lawyer and former military officer Aca Rayawa has claimed in a social media post that he was ordered to execute current Prime Minister Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka on the night of November 2, 2000, but refused.
Mr Rayawa stated this on his social media Facebook account.
“I arrested Sitiveni Ligamamada Rabuka (now the Honorable PM) on the night of 2nd November 2000 and personally searched him and his team and locked them up in Major Gucake’s room and disobeyed an Order to execute him and kill him – commit cold blooded murder,” wrote Mr Rayawa.
He did not state who had issued the order to him.
He added there is “no excuse for those who obeyed the order to kill soldiers that night who were already under arrest” and called for those involved to be investigated and charged.
On November 2, 2000 there was a mutiny at the army camp.
