SUSPENDED Acting Fiji Corrections Service Commissioner Sevuloni Naucukidi will challenge the admissibility of a voice recording between himself and the alleged victim he is accused of threatening.

Defence lawyer Samuela Savu confirmed this to Magistrate Shageeth Somaratne yesterday.

However, Senior State Prosecutor Sadaf Shameem said these issues could be addressed at trial, which begins on April 1 and will last for two days.

Mr Naucukidi is facing a count of criminal intimidation allegedly committed in July 2025.

The charge was laid following consultations with the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.

It is alleged that during the month of July 2025, he threatened a member of his support staff.

The matter has been adjourned to March 4 for the court to determine whether a voir dire hearing will be conducted or whether the issue of admissibility will be addressed during his trial.
