England hold a slender 14–13 lead over Fiji at halftime in a thrilling contest at Allianz Stadium, marked by moments of brilliance and costly errors from both sides.
Fiji struck first through a dazzling try from Caleb Muntz, following slick offloads by Jiuta Wainiqolo and Pita Gus Sowakula, before Muntz added a penalty to extend their advantage to 13–7.
England’s early score came from Luke Cowan-Dickie, but handling errors and a lack of cohesion stalled their momentum.
The match turned late in the half when Fiji winger Selestino Ravutaumada was sin-binned for a reckless mid-air challenge on Immanuel Feyi-Waboso.
England immediately capitalised as Fin Smith executed a precise cross-field kick for Feyi-Waboso to score with a composed finish. Smith then slotted the conversion from out wide to reclaim the lead.
The Pacific Islanders will look to regroup after the break as England aim to tighten control in the second half.
