A partnership between the Australian Pacific Training Coalition (APTC) and the Fiji Vocational Technical Training Centre for Persons with Disabilities (FVTTCPD) saw 20 students graduate with Language, Literacy and Numeracy (LLN) strengthening certificates on Wednesday.
The 20 students were from Marist Champagnat Institute (MCI), Chevalier Training Centre in Wainadoi and FVTTCPD.
APTC country director for Fiji and Tuvalu Gareth McGrath said this was the beginning of future training with the students.
“Working with our partner organisations MCI, Chevalier, as well as the centre here, are ones that we hold very important about gender equity, disability and social inclusion framework,” Mr McGrath said.
“We are currently forming a partnership with the centre here which will allow for the delivery of Certificate I and II of Information Technology programs which are accredited with the Fiji Higher Education Commission (FHEC).
“And we are delighted to be able to support the development and implementation of the programs moving forward.”
Mr McGrath said the institution was committed to give all individuals the opportunity to have an education.
“This is a great opportunity for you to be able to strengthen those LLN skills and to be able to provide a foundation for us to move forward.
“This graduate stage is a great opportunity for us to be able to celebrate your achievements.
“It also provides a pathway for you moving forward, to enjoy lifelong learning and employability options.”
The students undertook a three-week training course with APTC.
