Employment opportunities

RECENTLY the minister in charge of employment said people who couldn’t find jobs should go back to the village and plant cassava.

It is very easy to say so but is it practical?

Does the minister know how many of these unemployed youths have got land to do so?

Will the minister make provisions to see that these youths get land to plant cassava? I don’t think so.

Why doesn’t the minister think of some practical means of helping these unemployed youths such as giving them grants so that they can start their own business in a small way which can also create employment for other people too.

There are a lot of youths who want to open a barber shop or tailoring, grocery, computer cafe, garage, fishing, farming, etc, and they need money to start these projects.

This will not only create employment for those youths but they will also create employment for other’s too. Thus I believe our unemployment rate will come down.

Therefore Mr Minister don’t try to pass the buck.

The ball is in your court now and show us how you will help these unemployed youths.
