BRUMBIES women prop Iris Verebalavu is relishing the opportunity to return home and face familiar faces when her side takes on the McDonald’s Fijian Drua Women at 2pm today at 4R Stadium in Ba.

The 27-year-old, who hails from Namena in Tailevu, is one of two Fijians in the Brumbies squad for today’s Super Rugby Women’s clash and says coming back to Fiji with her teammates has been a special experience.

“I’m very much looking forward to it. I’m happy to be home and I’m glad to be here with my team. There are a lot of girls who have never been to Fiji before, so everyone’s quite excited going into the game today,” Verebalavu said.

“I love all my teammates in the other team. We all keep in contact quite often, so it’ll be a good challenge. I know how a lot of them play and vice versa, so I’m up for it and I know the team are as well.”

Verebalavu expects another physical contest against the defending champions and believes the Brumbies must be ready for the Drua’s exciting brand of rugby.

“We obviously know that they like to play a fast game. Their offload game is strong and they are quite a physical team, so we’re up for the challenge and hopefully we can put on a good performance.”

The Brumbies will be aiming to spoil the Drua’s home outing, while Verebalavu hopes to enjoy a memorable return to Fiji in front of family, friends and local supporters.
