Breaking Bad actress Emily Rios has become the latest celebrity to “come out” as a lesbian.
The Mexican-American star opens up about her sexuality in a new interview with AfterEllen.com, revealing she used her own experiences to help writers on her new show The Bridge accurately portray the love life of her character, reporter Adrianna Mendez, who also happens to be gay.
She says, “I’m gay, personally, so being Mexican and a lesbian — this is why I love the character because I deal with the same type of things with my own family.
“They (writers) have an idea or they want to have an idea of what really happens behind the scenes… I try to tell them, ‘Listen, this is not how it happens. We are not this way’.”
Rios admits her own “coming out” wasn’t turned into a big deal by her family, who were open to her way of life.
