A Jetstar aircraft bound for Sydney was forced to turn back to Nadi this evening following a report of a suspected oil leak in one of its engines.

According to Fiji Airports, Air Traffic Control was notified after Jetstar flight JQ120, which had departed earlier for Sydney, reported the issue mid-flight.

In response, Airport Emergency Services were immediately activated and the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) was established in line with the Nadi Airport Emergency Plan.

The aircraft returned safely and landed at Nadi International Airport at 7.50pm.

After landing, the pilot advised that the aircraft was operating normally and no further technical issues were detected.

Following routine safety and operational checks, the Full Emergency phase was officially cancelled and all emergency services were stood down.

Airport officials confirmed that airport operations were not affected during the incident.
