The Electoral Commission has disclosed the members who served during the 2024 financial year and the allowances paid to them, according to its Audited Financial Statements for 2024.
The report states that Electoral Commission members are appointed by the Office of the President, with seven commissioners serving a three-year term, and one member appointed as chairperson.
During the financial year, Barbara Malimali served briefly as Acting Chairperson from August 1 to August 15, 2023, receiving an allowance of $1,000 before being confirmed as Chairperson from August 16, 2023 to July 31, 2024, with an allowance of $10,000.

The report also records the appointment of Atu Emberson Bain, who served as a member from August 16, 2023 to July 31, 2024, receiving $9,000.
However, the Commission noted that it could not determine the exact appointment and resignation dates of some commissioners, as relevant documents had not been provided.
It stated that such matters are handled by the Constitutional Offices Commission.
The report confirmed that Ms Malimali resigned as Electoral Commission chairperson following the end of the financial year in August 2024.
Despite the missing documentation, the Commission said the issue had no significant or material impact on its operations or financial statements.
