A 70-year-old man from Mulomulo, Nadi, is believed to be the country’s latest road fatality victim following an accident along the Nadi Back Road.
According to police, the incident occurred when the elderly man allegedly attempted to cross the road suddenly, and was struck by a vehicle driven by a 43-year-old man.
The victim was rushed to the Nadi Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival.
The driver of the vehicle is expected to be brought in for questioning, as police continue their investigation into the incident.
This latest fatality brings the national road death toll to 35, an increase compared to 32 for the same period last year.
