Eileen scoops four gold

SHE has done Fiji proud again as Fijian weight-lifting reps continue to stamp their marks at the 2017 Commonwealth and Oceania Championships in Gold Coast in Australia.

Boosted with the record breaking lift of fellow Fijian lifter – Aplonia Vaivai, Eileen Cikamatana won four gold medals in the 90kg category yesterday.

The 17-year-old Ovalau lass won the Commonwealth senior and junior as well as the Oceania senior and junior gold medals.

She lifted 102kg in the snatch and narrowly missed her attempt at 111kg while chasing the Commonwealth and junior records in the snatch. Cikamatana was in great form, as she broke her own clean and jerk records for Commonwealth and Oceania senior and junior records.

Cikamatana lifted a new personal best of 141kg in the clean and jerk for a total of 243kg which was a new Commonwealth and Oceania records in the 90kg weight category.

Cikamatana’s previous bests were 110kg in the snatch and 140kg in the clean & jerk with a total of 250kg which she set at the Pacific Cup International in early August.

Meanwhile, she won two gold medals in the new 90kg category at the Australian International in March earlier this year.
