Energy Fiji Limited has advised employees intending to participate in the proposed industrial action that their wages and salaries will be withheld for the duration of the strike.
In a circular, obtained by The Fiji Times, issued to staff on February 10, EFL chief executive officer Fatiaki Gibson said members of the CETWUF who choose to take part in the strike would not be paid while the action is underway.
“Your wages and salaries will be withheld during the strike period,” Mr Gibson stated in the notice.
He states in the circular that all those workers who intend to join the strike must confirm in writing via email to the GMHR on or before 4:00pm on Friday, 13th February 2026.
“All employees who have indicated to GMHR (as stated in No. 1 above) via email that they will be taking part in the strike initiated by CETWUF will have to return all their EFL issued office/depot keys and Company vehicle keys to their respective Manager or General Manager on or before 4:00pm on Friday 13th February 2026.”
“Your wages/salaries will be withheld during the strike period.”
“You may be denied entering any EFL premises effective from 4:00pm on Friday 13th February 2026 until further notice, should you be deemed potential risk to EFL’s operation, premises and critical infrastructure.”
“All your Annual Leave applications will be on hold at the moment.”
The CEO said the company respected every employee’s right to make an individual and lawful decision regarding participation in industrial action, but emphasised that EFL remained focused on protecting its operations and critical infrastructure.
“The company remains committed to maintaining a professional, respectful and safe working environment for all employees during this period,” Mr Gibson said.
Employees were also encouraged to conduct themselves in a lawful and respectful manner, consistent with company policies and the law, and were advised to seek clarification directly from management or the general manager for human resources if required.
