Energy Fiji Limited (EFL) Chief Executive Officer Fatiaki Gibson says the public consultation process on the proposed electricity tariff adjustment has been open, inclusive and accessible to communities nationwide.
Gibson said EFL has supported public engagement through consultation sessions held across 17 locations around the country, using approaches tailored to Fiji’s geographic and social context.
He said the sessions included the distribution of clear written information explaining the tariff proposal and its impact on customers, one-on-one discussions with households and businesses, and opportunities for individuals to ask questions, seek clarification and directly share their views.
“This approach enabled genuine two-way engagement and reflects internationally accepted principles of inclusiveness, transparency and good-faith consultation,” Gibson said.
He added that EFL remains committed to aligning with the Government’s National Energy Policy, which aims to transition the energy sector to 100 percent renewable energy.
Other key commitments include transparency and accountability, protecting vulnerable customers, ensuring a reliable electricity supply, and supporting Fiji’s long-term energy security and development.
Gibson encouraged all stakeholders to review the tariff proposal documentation that has been made publicly available and to participate constructively in the consultation process.
“Sustainable electricity for Fiji requires decisions grounded in evidence, fairness and the broader national interest,” he said.
