Energy Fiji Ltd (EFL) is working around the clock to restore electricity across Viti Levu after Tropical Cyclone Vaianu damaged the 132kV line between Wailoa and Cunningham, triggering widespread outages in the Central Division.
CEO Fatiaki Gibson said crews began repairs at first light in challenging conditions, aiming for completion by Thursday, April 9.
“Until then, we have implemented temporary power rationing with rolling blackouts of 2-3 hours,” he said, thanking large consumers for using backup generators to ease grid pressure.
Safety remains a priority, with only healthy circuits being reactivated. EFL urges patience as teams tackle difficult terrain to restore full service.
